Barracuda cool the Heat with 5-2 win at home

STOCKTON, Calif. – The San Jose Barracuda overcame the Heat with a final score of 5-2 Wednesday night in San Jose.

The Heat’s Andrew Mangiapane scored his third goal of the season in the first period when his shot from the slot went past Troy Grosenick.  It wasn’t long before Brandon Mashinter scored the equalizer, with assists credited to Marcus Sorenson and Daniel O’Regan.

The second period turned out similar to the first, as O’Regan scored his third goal midway through.  Garnet Hathaway scored a one-timer, with assists to Mangiapane and Mark Jankowski.  The two teams would be knotted through the end of two.

Unfortunately for the Heat, the Barracuda scored three more goals, O’Regan earned a goal only 2:29 in, when his shot found an open net.  Alexander True scored when David Rittich’s stick was knocked away at 13:27.  And finally, at 16:1, Filip Sandberg scored the Barracuda fifth and final goal of the night.

Troy Grosenick earned the win with 28 saves. Rittich had 17 saves for the night.

Stockton will return home to welcome the San Diego Gulls on Friday.

Barracuda will hit the road to Cleveland to face the Monsters on Saturday.
