OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla –Texas was defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons 2-0 in front of 8,833 fans at Cox Convention Center on Saturday night. Oklahoma City goalie Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers (15-13-4) made 22 saves for his second consecutive shutout. Despite 33 saves, Texas goalie Richard Bachman (27-17-5) suffered the loss. Oklahoma City defenseman Kevin Montgomery and forward Alexandre Giroux each scored for the Barons, ending the Stars five-game winning streak.
After a scoreless first period, the Barons opened the scoring at 2:20 of the second frame. Defenseman Kevin Montgomery snapped a shot from the left point past Stars goalie Richard Bachman. Montgomery’s fourth goal of the season was set up by Milan Kytner and Philippe Cornet for the 1-0 lead.
Barons made it a 2-0 game at 16:09 of the third period off a goal by Alexandre Giroux. Forward Mark Arcobello and defenseman Bryan Helmer each picked up an assist on Giroux’s 32nd goal of the year.
Texas returns home to face the Rockford IceHogs Sunday, April 3rd at 5:00 PM.
