Bakersfield forces game five with Victoria

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Condors defeated Victoria in game four to force game five at the Rabobank Arena on Sunday evening before 3,732 fans.

Despite heavy pressure from the Salmon Kings and another consecutive night in the net for Matt Keetley, Jean-Philippe Lavasseur was the game winner with 32 saves for the night.

The Salmon Kings struck first with a goal by Chad Painchaud at 2:39 into the first period.   MacGregor Sharp answered the goal with assist from Kyle Calder to even the score at 6:43.

Bakersfield led the charge in the second period with goals from Mark Voakes, and Calder’s second of the night.   The end of the period, the Condors were leading 3-1.

The third period, Painchaud came out early again, with a goal at 2:25, but the Kings just couldn’t rally any further.   Condor’s Sharp and Andrew Ianiero (with an empty netter) scored to seal the deal at 5-2.

Victoria led in shots on goal 34-26.

Game five will be Monday, April 12, at Rabobank Arena.   The winner of tonight’s game will play the Stockton Thunder in the Conference Semifinals.
