Baie-Comeau register their second home win over Quebec Gregoire earns second stars with two goals

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —In a game where the third period was the most interesting, with three goals scored after seeing the home team score only one in each first two periods, Baie-Comeau came out on top for second time over Quebec in their season confrontations. Jeremy Gregoire, with two goals and goaltender Philippe Cadorette with 33 saves on 34 shots, were key players for Baie-Comeau 4-1 victory. Drakkar

The first period ended with Baie-Comeau leading 1-0 thanks to Gregoire who scored his second of the season with 10:11 to play. After Baie-Comeau forward Frederic Gamelin saw Quebec goalie making first save on his shot the center took his rebound behind the net made great pass to Gregoire beating Remparts goalie.

Quebec’s best scoring chance of the initial period came on two-on-one breakaway. Kurt Etchegary pass the puck to teammates Jerome Verrier who trying to drive to the net he attempted to beat Baie-Comeau netminder with backhanded shot but Callum Booth made the save.

In very thigh defensive game Baie-Comeau has been the only team adding to their lead. After seeing both netminders making saves when they had to, the home team add a second goal to their lead with 2:06 remaining to the middle frame.

Baie-Comeau scored third goal to begin the third period. Already scoring Drakkar first goal in the game Gregoire scores his second in the game but not before referee Nicholas Dutil has to review the sequence on video to see if Drakkar center had intentionally redirected the puck behind Booth with his skate.

Dutil had allowed the goal on the ice and the video review confirmed Gregoire his second goal of the game giving to his team a 3-0 lead 5:22 into the third period.

Already been 0-in-4 in the game with man advantage Quebec scores their only goal of the game as Guillaume Gauthier score his 18th of the year beating Philippe Cadorette who had been perfect up until this six-on-four power play after Quebec head coach pulled his netminder sending a sixth forwards on the ice. Gauthier’s goal came at 18:22.

But Baie-Comeau came back 19 seconds later scoring their fourth goals in the game in an empty net sealing their second victory over Quebec in their own building.

After making one of the biggest trade in that last trading period with the arrival of goaltender Zachary Fucale from Halifax in return of draft pick an goaltender Eric Brassard, Quebec general manager Philippe Boucher makes another trade on Wednesday a minor one acquiring 19 year old defenseman Brian Lovell from Chicoutimi in return of another defenseman Alexandre McQuaid.

Quebec received great news as left winger Anthony Duclair will be back in Quebec from the New-York Rangers after being on loan to the National Junior Team where he won gold.

Quebec next game will be this Friday hosting the Sherbrooke Phoenix
