Badgers Stun Top-Ranked North Dakota, Earn Split

A weekend after getting their first wins of the season, Wisconsin took on top-ranked North Dakota and came away from Grand Forks with a split, pulling a 3-1 upset on Friday night before falling to the same scoreline on Sunday.

As with the previous weekend against Arizona State, goalie Matt Jurusik was the star. In Friday night’s win, Jurusik made 12 third-period saves and turned aside 29 shots. Wisconsin had trailed 1-0 after a goal seven minutes in, but tied the score when Corbin McGuire scored on a rebound.

In the second period, Luke Kunin scored 37 seconds in to give the Badgers a 2-1 lead, and Jedd Soleway scored to make it 3-1. The loss was North Dakota’s first of the season, and the win was Wisconsin’s 11th over a top-ranked team under coach Mike Eaves. Big 10 logo
