Avs win 15th straight road game in Elmont, set NHL record Colorado win 7-4 - Update to follow

In Elmont, the Colorado Avalanche won their 15th straight road game on Tuesday night, dating back to the 2022-23 season to set an NHL mark.

Alexandar Georgiev made 27 saves in the 7-4 win.

Ryan Johansen scored the first of a double at 5:19 of the first period to give the Avs a 1-0 lead.

His double came with 60 seconds left on the clock in the third for the 6-4 score.

Cal Clutterbuck tied the game, 1-1, for the Islanders at 10:03 of the first.

At 12:52, Cale Makar restored the lead, 2-1, to Colorado.

With three minutes gone in the middle frame, Kyle Palmieri tied the game for New York, 2-2, off a power play strike.

The two traded goals for a 3-3 tie with Simon Holmstrom giving the Isles a 3-2 lead at 5:55, and Bowen Byram knotting it at 3-3 at 19:18.

Colorado struck just 13 seconds later for a 4-3 lead on a goal by Nathan MacKinnon.

Anders Lee scored at 4:of the third to tie it, again, this time at 4-4, for New York.

Mikko Rantanen scored at 7:47 of the third for a 5-4 lead to the Avs.

Ross Colton hit an empty net for the 7-4 final. Colton got credit for the goal after Brock Nelson’s errant pass went into the empty net.

Ilya Sorokin made 35 save in the Isles loss.
