In Denver, Cale Makar hit for a double in the first period as the Colorado Avalanche defeated th4e Carolina Hurricanes, 4-1, on Saturday.
Pavel Francouz made 24 saves in the Avs win.
Colorado improved to 8-5-1.
Makar’s first goal of the game came off the power play.
Jordan Staal was the lone striker for the Canes. He scored in the second period to cut the Avs lead in half, 2-1.
Carolina dropped to 9-5-1.
Nathan MacKinnon extended the Avs advantage to 3-1 at 4:17 of the third period.
Mikko Rantanen added an empty-net goal at 17:50Â of the third for the 4-1 final.
Antti Raanta made 24 saves in the Carolina loss.
