Avs rally past Dallas for 5-4 win in OT MacKinnon, Drouin hit for doubles in win - Update to follow

In Dallas, the Stars squandered a 4-2 lead in the third period in a 5-4 loss to the visiting Colorado Avalanche in extra time on Thursday night.

The Avs’ Mikko Rantanen tied the game, 4-4, with 89 seconds left on the regulation clock, it was his 20th of the campaign.

Nathan MacKinnon scored his 22nd of the season at 3:40 of the extra session off a 2-on-0 rush.

MacKinnon had a double in the win.

Alexandar Georgiev made 28 saves in the win.

The Avalanche improved to 25-11-3.

The Stars had control of the much f the game.

Evgenii Dadonov scored a marker at 11:57 of the openign stanza for a 1-0 lead to Dallas.

MacKinnon hit for his first of the game at 13:44 to tie it at 1-1.

Tyler Seguin scored his first of a pair of goals at 1:28 middle frame for a 2-1 lead to the Stars.

Joe Pavelski extended the advantage to 3-1 off a power play strike midway through the second period.

Johnathan Drouin trimmed the deficit to 3+2 with 12 seconds left on the period clock.

Dallas dropped to 22-10-5.

Seguin picked up his double near the midway point of the third period for a 4-2 advantage to the Stars.

Drouin scored his double midway through the third to make it 4-3, setting Rantanen for later heroics, and MacKinnon’s winner.

Scott Wedgewood made 29 saves in the loss.
