In St Paul, the Wild’s woes wore on in a Friday night loss to the visiting Colorado Avalanche.
The Avs’ Kurtis MacDermid scored his first of the season at 4:56 of the third period to snap a 2-2 tie for a 3-2 lead Colorado would hold for the win.
“It’s not necessarily part of my job, but it’s always nice to be able to help my team offensively,” MacDermid said. “It’s a big two points for us. Grind it out at the end and that’s what you want to do on the road.”
The Avalanche improved to 13-6-0.

Colorado took a 2-0 lead on goals in the first period by Ross Colton at 17:53, and Valeri Nichushkin at 8″33 of the middle frame.
The Wild dropped to 5-9-4 off their sixth straight loss.
“Did we play well enough to win tonight? Yes,” Minnesota coach Dean Evason said. “But when things aren’t going good, you need to do something extra. Something needs to be done extra. We need all of it.”
Minnesota replied with a pair of goals in the second period to get the game tied, 2-2.
Kirill Kaprizov scored 34 seconds after the Avs had taken the 2-0 lead.
Joel Eriksson Ek hit at 14:51 to tie the game, after he had lost a few teeth in a stick encounter earlier.
Filip Gustavsson made 22 saves in the loss.
