Aviators drub Akwesasne, 7-1

BROOKLYN, NY – The Brooklyn Aviators snapped their four-game losing skid in impressive fashion, as they defeated the Akwesasne Warriors 7-1 at the Aviator Sports and Events Center on Thursday night in Federal Hockey League action.

Seven different Aviators registered two or more points on the night, while netminder Mike DiLorenzo stopped all but one shot in the club’s victory.
The Aviators struck first, 1-0, in the opening frame at the 7:20 mark when Jason Dolgy snapped the puck under the glove of Akwesasne netminder Alex Vincente for his eighth tally of the year.  Brooklyn than put together a highlight reel goal 5:18 later that was started by newcomer Chris Campanale.  The former CHL forward found a streaking Andrew Scampoli along the right wing, who then fed Mike Thomson with a pass in front which was tapped into the empty net to give the A’s a 2-0 edge.  For Thomson that is his fourth marker of the campaign, and third tally in as many games.  Matt Atsoff capped of the first with his 17th goal of the season after slamming home a loose rebound with 2:45 left in the period to put Brooklyn up 3-0.
Just 33-seconds into the second period, Joe Dabkowski buried his eighth marker of the year off a beautiful one-time pass from Steve Koich, who set Dabkowski up perfectly in the left wing circle.  Up 4-0, Brooklyn continued to find the back of the net on Thomson’s second of the game and fifth of the season.  Atsoff fed the second-year Aviator with a beautiful back door pass at the 5:58 spot of the frame putting Brooklyn on top, 5-0.  Akwesasne’s Martin Beaulne registered the only goal for the Warriors halfway through the second period, as he put home Pierre Dagenais’ pass from the right post to spoil DiLorenzo’s shutout bid.
Nick Petriello and Dolgy added two tallies for Brooklyn in the third frame to help ice the 7-1 victory for Brooklyn over Akwesasne.
DiLorenzo made 33 saves to earn his second victory of the season, while Vincent suffered his first loss despite putting aside 37 shots.
Brooklyn returns to action this weekend when they take on the Danville Dashers at the David S. Palmer Arena in a two game set.  Puck drop for Saturday night’s contest is at 7:35 pm and can be heard on the LiveSports Video FHL Network.
