DENVER, Colorado – In game two of the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals, the Colorado Avalanche extended their lead to 2-0 against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a final score of 7-0. Colorado becomes the first team in 46 years to take a 2-0 series lead in a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Final against defending champions.
The Ball Arena was filled with 17,849 extremely loud fans, with many more fans posted outside watching the game on screen.
In a sharp contrast from game one, where these two teams appeared similar in strength, Colorado controlled the pace of the game from start to finish, which included a pair of goals from both Valari Nichushkin and Cale Makar, and single goals from Andre Burakovsky, Josh Manson, and Darren Helm. Mikko Rantanen also had three assists for the night.

Tampa’s dedicated netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy played in his 100th playoff hockey game this evening, posting 30 saves for the loss. This was the most goals he’s ever given up in a playoff game (7).
The two teams will travel Sunday for games 3 and 4 in Tampa on Monday night.
