Attack Claim 1000th Win as Owen Sound Franchise

The Owen Sound Attack had five different goal scorers and six players record multiple points as they claimed their 1000th win in Owen Sound franchise history (including Playters), with an impressive 5-2 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs Friday night!

Much like the previous game in Peterborough, the Attack were dominant in the opening 20 minutes, not allowing the home Frontenacs to generate any type of offence. The difference on Friday night was the Bears getting on the scoreboard first, something that the team has struggled with as of late. It was Gavin Bryant jumping on a stalled Kingston defence off a neutral zone face-off, before roofing the breakaway opportunity, giving the Attack the opening goal for the first time in 11 games.

The goal just added more fuel to the Attack’s legs as they continued to pour on the pressure, and recent returnee from World Juniors, Servac Petrovsky netted his 15th of the year, and third point in just four period since returning from the tournament.

Kingston would get one on a late period power play, but captain Colby Barlow restored the Attack’s two goal lead with just six seconds left in period one. The top 2023 NHL Draft prospect now has 24 goals and 45 points on the season, as continues to show that he is not only a top prospect for the NHL Draft, but also a top player in the OHL.

With the two goal lead, Owen Sound would sit back slightly, as Kingston began to apply longer stretches of pressure on the Bear’s defence, but strong team player combined with Corbin Votary’s stellar goaltending kept the home team off the score board.

Midway through the second frame, the Attack would extend their lead to three, when Nolan Seed and Cedrick Guindon had an attempted give-and-go play, but the puck would deflect off a Frontenacs’ players skate and into the net, giving Seed, the Newboro, ON native his third of the season.

Owen Sound would cruise to the finish line, though a slight speed wobble came in the early part of period three, when Kingston cut the lead back to just a pair, but with five minutes to play Ethan Burroughs sealed the game, with an absolute snipe from the slot hashmarks to make it a 5-2 game.

In all Bryant, Petrovsky, Guindon, Seed, Burroughs and James Petrovski all ended with a two point night, while Votary recorded his fifth win of the season, matching last years mark.

Owen Sound will round out their Eastern Ontario road trip Sunday afternoon in Ottawa, when they battle the league leading 67’s. Fans can catch the action on Rogers TV Grey County or listen live on 560 CFOS Bear Radio.
