In Los Angeles, the visiting Montreal Canadiens reverted to form, again, this time in a 5-2 loss to the Kings on Saturday.
Montreal had a 1-0 lead off a goal from Josh Anderson but the Kings replied with five straight goals.
Calvin Petersen made 26 saves for the LA win.
The Kings went 3-for-5 wtih the power play.
“We’ve been waiting for that to happen,” Kings head coach Todd McLellan said. “And when you score like that on the power play, other parts of your game come along with it. You get confident. I think that might have been the difference in the game tonight.”
The Habs dropped to 2-7-0 with the loss.
“It takes a certain level of compete, a certain level of work to win in this league every night,” Montreal’s Ben Chiarot (goal) said. “And right now, we’re not willing to give that on a consistent basis. And our results show that.”
Alex Iafallo struck twice for LA and had three points in the win.
“We have to be accountable,” the Canadiens’ Tyler Toffoli said. “We have to find ways to man up with ourselves and with each other and be grown-ups in the locker room, and understand if you’re not playing well then you need to figure it out.”
Viktor Arvidsson also scored for the Kings.
Two of the LA power play markers came from Arthur Kaliyev and Rasmus Kupari.
Jake Allen made 45 saves for the Canadiens in the loss.
“We don’t seem to have the right response now, the right kind of fight back, and that’s the biggest thing,” Chiarot said. “I mean, we had momentum kind of rolling in that game, and then it kind of flips on us. Bunch of penalties, obviously, but we have to be able to bounce back.”
