In Sunrise, the Los Angeles came up nearly empty in a 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers.
Roberto Luongo won his 484th NHL game; he made 18 saves.
Nineteen shots were all that the Kings could muster.
“I’m not really much for milestones,” Luongo said. “Listen, it’s nice obviously to get those recognitions, but at the end of the day I just want to get wins for our club and obviously make a push here and try to sneak in back in the playoffs.”
Luongo is now tied for fourth in the NHL record books for wins.
Dustin Brown scored the only goal for LA.
“We haven’t won, but we’ve played against some good teams and we’ve played hard,” Los Angeles coach Willie Desjardins said. “We’ve been right in every game. This is the first one we haven’t been in.”
Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau and Keith Yandle had multi points with a goal and assist each.
“That was the difference, I thought, in the game,” Panthers coach Bob Boughner said. “I thought for 10 minutes of the second period we weren’t very good. We didn’t generate a lot. We didn’t spend a lot of time in their end. All of a sudden, he gets out of the box and he gets a goal and it’s 2-1, and you see the bench automatically stand up a little bit. It was a huge goal in the game.”
Jamie McGinn, Vincent Trocheck and Ian McCoshen also scored for the Panthers.
“I’m just taking it all in right now,” McGinn said. “Worked hard to get back, so it was nice to get rewarded tonight. It feels good for sure. More importantly, we got the win and played together and we played a full 60 minutes. The power play was outstanding. Guys were in front of the net. I don’t think Quick saw much tonight.”

Jonathan Quick got the start and made 17 saves; he was given the hook after surrendering the sixth Panthers goal.
Jack Campbell made two saves in relief.
“They kind of wore on us in the second period. We had some chances to go ahead by a couple,” Anze Kopitar said. “The second goal, I’ll take full responsibility for that. I mean, shoot the puck and it goes around the net. You’ve got to hit the net there, and the puck goes around the wall right to the guy, he’s got a breakaway and he scores. That’s really a momentum-changer. But we took some penalties too and they scored two power-play goals and that was it.”
