Annunen, Avs shut out Chicago, 5-0 Parise hits for double in win - Update to follow

In Chicago, the Blackhawks were no match for the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night in a 5-0 shutout loss.

Justus Annunen made 24 saves for his first career NHL shutout.

The Avalanche moved to 37-19-5.

The Avs opened the scoring with a marker from Zach Parise, his first of a pair on the night, at 17:58 of the opening stanza.

Ross Colton scored off the power play at 6:56 of the middle frame to make it 2-0 to the Avs.

The Blackhawks dropped to 15-40-5 off their 13th loss in 14 matches.

Colorado’s Ryan Johansen stretched the lad to 3-0 at 7:38 when he scored from below the goal line on a backhand shot.

Devon Toews ballooned the advantage to 4-0 with two seconds left in the second period.

Nathan MacKinnon  scored at 17:32 of the third period to make it 5-0 for teh Avs.

MacKinnon also had an assist in the game to reach 100 points on the campaign.

Petr Mrazek made 28 saves in the loss.
