STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder management officially announced during an away game fan watch party that the new AHL team name will be the Stockton Heat. The new logo was revealed by the general manager Dave Piecuch, with Stockton’s Mayor Anthony Silva.

The new logo is  a white and red field encircled by black and gold lettering for “Stockton Heat”. Inside the field is a large ‘S’ with a single gold flame.

”I am happy with the logo,” said Piecuch. “Considering the fact that Calgary is the Flames, and they wanted to go with a similar name, the Heat is perfect for the central valley. It’s always hot here, and it’s still weather related, too. I love the colors too.”

Piecuch is pleased so far with the added fan interest the new advanced level of team is bringing so far.

“We have already seen an increase in fan interest. Fans that previously were season ticket holders are returning and some that had considered coming before are more interested; especially now that the players will be only a single step away from the NHL. People that weren’t fans before, are wanting to give us a try too.”

“The fact that we have new ownership, a new name and a new league, it’s just like starting all over again,” Piecuch added.

Unfortunately the Thunder sealed their fate when they were eliminated from playoff contingent this past weekend. The very last Stockton Thunder game will be April 11, 2015.

Stockton, California, and Glens Falls, New York, will be trading leagues, since the AHL Flames will be moving to Stockton to become the Stockton Heat. The ECHL team will maintain the Thunder Logo adding red to the beard when they move to Glens Falls to become the Adirondack Thunder.
