Andre Payette signs two-year contract with the Steeldogs

SHEFFIELD, U.K.- After a terrific season, it was unveiled at the Sheffield Steeldogs presentation evening that player/coach, Andre Payette, has been given a new two-year contract, keeping him at the Sheffield side until 2014.

Under the leadership of Payette, his team finished 3rd overall in the EPL league table and came runners-up, in what was there first ever cup final, in the EPL Cup.

In what was his first year of coaching, Payette also received the EPL Coach of the Year for his efforts in the 2011/2012 season.

The Sheffield Steeldogs owner, Shane Smith, said “ I can honestly say Andre has done everything I asked of him, and more. What we have seen this year on the ice is what I wanted – a hard working, passionate, never-say-die attitude that used to be in hockey and which I wanted to see back again.”
“I am sure all the fans will be excited to see Andre back as Head Coach and cannot wait to see who else we sign/re-sign for the following season. We are looking closely at players to strengthen the squad and Andre is just the start. I am personally looking forward to further working with Andre behind the bench for the next few years. Welcome back Andre.”
