In Nashville Thursday night, the Anaheim Ducks reasserted themselves and tied up the opening round series with the Predators with a 4-1 win.
Ryan Getzlaf opened the scoring in the first period on a breakout form the defensive zone that ended up as a 4-on-2.
David Peron skated the puck up ice on the right wing and took a shot on goal that rebounded to Getzlaf in the low slot for the easy tap in.
The goal came at 1:02 of the first period and stood up until 11:26 of the second when Mike Fisher picked up his fist goal of the post season.
Fisher’s goal came off a nice pass from Colin Wilson below the goal line.
Frederik Andersen was beaten far side on the goal. He made 30 saves on the night and once again provided a solid effort in the Ducks net to get them back to even in the series heading home.
Nate Thompson scored late in the middle frame for the eventual game-winner; it was his second of the series.
Jamie McGinn and Andrew Cogliano added markers for the Ducks.
Pekka Rinne took the loss on 21 saves.
Nashville went scoreless in six power play chances and have been able to score only once in 19 chances in the series.
Anaheim was no better with the extra skater as they went 0-for-5.
Game 5 will be back in Anaheim, on Saturday, where the Ducks hope to stop the trend of visitors winning each of the first four games of this series.
With the improved play across the bench Anaheim returns home with some confidence. Their defense continues to shine with 25 blocked shots on the night.
