ROCHESTER, NY – The Rochester Americans came up short to the Abbotsford Heat tonight in a final 1-0 decision at The Blue Cross Arena. Abbotsford goaltender Leland Irving blanked the Amerks for the second time this season, stopping all 30 shots he faced between the pipes. “We just didn’t do a good enough job to get the greasy goals,” said Amerks Head Coach Chuck Weber, whose team fell to 21-26-3-2. Abbotsford improved to 25-22-2-5 with its second road win in two nights. It was the second 1-0 shutout of the Amerks this season by Irving, who made 29 saves in a December 14th win over Rochester.
Matt Keith netted the game’s only goal at 12:30 of the second period as he beat Amerks goalie Tyler Plante, who finished the night with 25 saves. Keith tallied his 17th goal of the season, scoring off a feed from Galean Patterson. TJ Brodie also assisted on the play.
Former Amerks Ales Kotalik and Stefan Meyer played for the Heat tonight with Kotalik registering six shots on goal. Rochester saw the return of leading point producer Michal Repik, as he was reassigned by Florida today. The Amerks remain at home on Friday, February 11th as the Binghamton Senators make their third of four appearances this season at The Blue Cross Arena. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive an Amerks Wall Decal.
