Americans score early and often in 8-3 win over Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, defeated the Rapid City Rush 8-3 at Rushmore Civic Center in front of a crowd of 3,541.

The Americans offense was lethal through the first two periods of play scoring seven goals on their first 22 shots. Both Zach Pochiro and Jonathan Lessard each scored two goals. Pochiro had a three-point night adding an assist to his two goals while finishing the game a plus five.

“We made some mistakes early but found our game later in the first,” said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. We have a ton of speed and that was on display tonight.”

Alex Schoenborn, Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Olivier Archambault and Joel Chouinard also scored for the Americans, who were outshot for the game 31 to 30. Allen starting netminder Stephon Williams made his Americans debut pushing aside 28 of 31 attempts.

The Americans took all three stars of the game with Zach Pochiro earning the number one star, with Alex Schoenborn second and Olivier Archambault finishing third.

The same two clubs battle it out Saturday night at 8:05 PM CT. The Americans return home on Saturday, October 21 to meet the Orlando SolarBears.
