Americans hold off Rush 5-3

ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans defeated the Rapid City Rush on Friday night by a score of 5-3 at Allen Event Center. It was the Americans third win over the Rush this season.

Colby McAuley scored, what turned out to be the game winner, at the 4:59 mark of the third period. His goal put Allen up 4-2. The Americans would hold on for the victory, despite a late Rapid City power play and adding an extra attacker on late in third.

Stephan Williams stood strong late, despite great pressure by Rapid City. Williams stopped 32 of 35 Rush shots. It was Williams’s sixth win of the season. (6-5-1-0)

Connor Reilly, Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Bryan Moore and Colby McAuley all had two-point games. Moore extended his point streak to five games with his goal and assist.

“We worked hard tonight,” said McAuley. “We scored timely goals and answered whenever they cut our lead. They worked hard tonight and we had to match it.”

The same two clubs meet tomorrow on SpongeBob and Nickelodeon Night in Allen. It’s also the annual Teddy Bear Toss game, brought to you by Children’s Health. The first 1,500 kids to enter the arena get a Biscuit Ornament to be given out when the doors open.
