Tulsa, OK – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, wrapped three games in three nights on Saturday at BOK against the Tulsa Oilers with a 5-3 victory.
The Americans had the only goal of the opening frame when Colby McAuley, fired home a rebound from in front of the Tulsa net for his 8th of the season from Mathieu Aubin and Casey Pierro-Zabotel. Aubin’s first point in 11 games and the 501st point of his career. Allen was 0 for 1 on the power play, while Tulsa was 0 for 2.
The Americans scored two more in the second period. Zach Pochiro scored his tenth of the season as Connor Reilly found Pochiro open in front of the net. Pochiro ripped one up high on Jake Hildebrand that gave Allen a 2-0 lead. The Americans made it 3-0 at the 12-minute mark when Vincent Arseneau knocked one home in front of the Oilers net to put Allen up 3-0. Tulsa would cut the lead to 3-1 on the power play with two and a half minutes left in the period. Allen took a 3-1 lead to the locker room.
Allen would score two more times in the third period. Spencer Asuchak, poked home his 7th of the season at 3:31 of the third period, after the Oilers had cut the lead to 3-2 just a minute earlier. Kale Kessy would score his second of the game to cut the lead to 4-3 at the 15-minute mark, but the Americans would hold on as Dalton Thrower, added an empty net goal late for his third of the season to give Allen a 5-3 lead. The Americans would hold on for the victory to extend their winning streak to four games.
Allen resumes this five-game road trip on Tuesday night for the second ever meeting against the Atlanta Gladiators. The club will travel to Estero, Florida on Friday and Saturday night to play the Florida Everblades, and then close out the road trip in Jacksonville a week from tomorrow.
