Americans best Oilers in shootout

ALLEN, TX – The Allen Americans (42-17-4-2) defeated the Tulsa Oilers 5-4 in a shootout on Friday night, ending their one-game skid in front of 5,051 at Allen Event Center.

Tyler Barnes was the number one star of the game, scoring two times for Allen, his 6th and 7th of the season, and the game winner in the shootout.

“It wasn’t pretty at times but we got it done,” Gary Steffes said on the Americans Radio Broadcast following the game. ‘The new guys Barnes (Tyler) and Krushelnyski (Alex) both played a role in our win, which was exciting to see.”

Gary Steffes scored his 19th of the year, while Alex Krushelnyski scored his 1st with Allen and his 3rd of the season. Both players had a goal and an assist on the night. Joel Chouinard extended his point streak to five games with an assist on Tyler Barnes’ first goal of the night.

The Americans went 2-for-4 on the power play, while Tulsa went 1-for-4. Riley Gill stopped all three Tulsa shooters in the shootout to pick up the victory.

For Tulsa, both Erik Drapluck and Alex Ranger each had two-point games with a pair of assists. The Oilers outshot the Americans 42-33 for the game. Tyler Barnes led Allen in shots-on-goal with six.

The same two teams meet Saturday night at 7:05 PM at Allen Event Center on Military Appreciation Night.
