In St Paul Wednesday, it was the Jake Allen show as he made 51 saves to help the St Louis Blues to a 2-1 win overtime over the Minnesota Wild.
“They threw a lot at me, but it’s my job to stop the puck and give the boys a chance, and
they scored the goal,” Allen said. “Big win for us.”
Joel Edmundson ended the busy night for Allen with a goal in overtime at 17:48.
Zach Parise forced the extra session when he finally solved Allen with just 22 seconds left in the game.
“We gave ourselves a chance at least,” Parise said. “We extended the game, and then you never know what can happen in overtime. But you’ve got to score more than one.”
Vladimir Sobotka scored for the Blues in regulation to give them a 1-0 lead they held until Parise’s goal.
“Win or lose, short memories are important,” Parise said. “You still have to look at the good things that we did and look at where we can be better. Unfortunately right now, we’re down 1-0 [in the series] and now we’ve got to even it up.”

Devan Dubnyk took the loss on 24 saves.
“I wouldn’t say it wasn’t good enough. Obviously the outcome wasn’t there, but I think [if] we play like that every game, we’re probably going to get the results we want and that’s the important thing. When a game like that doesn’t finish how you want it to, [you’ve] just got to keep doing what you’re doing. We stick to that game, we’re going to be tough to beat,” Dubnyk said after the OY loss.
