Allen cruises past Missouri for 2-1 series lead

2016KellyCupALLEN, Texas – After a 5-2 drubbing at the hands of the Missouri Mavericks on Saturday night, the Allen Americans responded with a dominating performance on home ice Wednesday night, taking a 2-1 series lead with a 5-1 victory.

Allen set the tone from the puck drop, netting their first goal just 31-seconds into the contest when Eric Roy ripped a shot past Parker Milner to put the Americans up 1-0. The Americans built on the lead, going up 2-0 six minutes laterwhen Vincent Arseneau lit the lamp on a nice feed from Chad Costello at the 6:40 mark.

Missouri took the momentum away from Allen for a brief period when Josh Holmstrom fired a rebound past Riley Gill and scored shorthanded. For several minutes, it was Allen back on their heels, fighting to hold onto the lead before regaining their composure and the momentum when Greger Hanson scored with a nifty wrister on the power play at13:59.

The Americans added two more goals in the final frame, both from Spencer Asuchak to get the 5-1 win. The first came late in the game at 15:40, then Asuchak followed up with an empty netterl to cap the scoring for the evening at 18:00.

Allen now holds a 2-1 series lead in the ECHL Kelly Cup Western Conference Semi-Final round with games four and five in their building before the series heads back to Missouri, if necessary, next week.

Game four of the series is set for Friday night at the Allen Event Center with the puck drop scheduled for 7:05PM CDT.
