Air Force Takes C I C Trophy With Victory Over Army

ANNAPOLIS, MD: On Saturday morning, the United States Air Force Academy defeated the United States Military Academy 5-2. The victory came less than twelve hours after defeating the United States Naval Academy, to take the first Commander in Chief’s Hockey Tournament.

Spencer Anderson of Air Force opened the scoring on a power play goal in the first period with an assist from Douglas Gutierrez. At the 11:00 minute mark, it was Anderson again with an even strength goal assisted by Ryyan Reule. Anderson was at it again with the natural hat trick, on a power play goal assisted by Nicholas Hastings and Reule.

The second period saw Army get one back at the 7:56 mark. It was Daniel Walker with a power play goal from Keller Conrow.

Army continued to fight back in the third period, when Nick Liebers scored at 4:03. Martin McDonald had the helper on the Liebers goal. Air Force would go up by two with a power play goal from Gutierrez at 9:22 on an unassisted goal. Goalie Mark Anarumo would get an assist on an empty net goal scored by Gutierrez at 18:36 to put the game away.

Anarumo would make 17 saves on 19 shots. Jack Kraus was in net for Army, making 47 saves on 52 shots.
