Ads stymie Wolves in OT

Milwaukee, WI—Jake Lucchini scored the game-winning goal in overtime to help lead the Admirals to a 4-3 win over the Chicago Wolves in a Herbert’s Best School Day Game on Wednesday morning at Panther Arena.

The win for Milwaukee was their fourth straight and extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1). Three of those wins have come in overtime.

Lucchini, Joey Willis, and Daniel Carr all finished the game with a goal and an assist to pace the offense while Magnus Chrona won his second game of the season by stopping 21 shots.

After an uneventful first period, the Admirals got on the board with a power-play goal from Daniel Carr 2:43 into the second. Stationed front of the net, Carr deflected a one-timer from the right circle by Joey Willis for his sixth goal of the season.

The Milwaukee lead went to two just over five minutes into the sandwich frame when Oasiz Wiesblatt collected the puck behind the Admirals net, skated to the right of Chicago netminder Cayden Primeau and fired a shot over his shoulder for the fourth goal of the season for him.

However, the Wolves would get the next three goals to grab a 3-2 advantage through two periods. Felix Unger Sorum scored a 5-on-3 goal at the 9:43 mark and then 70 seconds later Evan Vierling tallied another PPG for the Wolves to tie the score at two.

Blake Biondi hopped on a loose puck in the Milwaukee crease and flipped it over Ads goalie Magnus Chrona at the 13:32 mark to put them into the lead.

Willis tied the game at three for Milwaukee midway through the third. The play started when Zack Hayes sent a shot towards the net that was stopped by Primeau. Carr collected the rebound and froze the Chicago netminder before feeding Willis to his right and he had a wide-open net for his second goal of the year.

In overtime the Admirals were on the waning seconds of a power-play, when Ryan Ufko brought the puck from behind the net and sent a pass to Lucchini, who was stationed right on the doorstep. Lucchini’s one-timer had just enough on it to trickle through the pads of Primeau and dance over the goal line for his second goal of the season.

The Admirals are off on Thursday before they host Manitoba on Friday night at 7 pm and then Texas on Saturday at 6 pm.
