Cedar Park, TX–Goalie Arno Tiefensee stopped 27 shots to lead the Texas Stars to a 3-2 win over the Admirals Friday at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
Milwaukee has now lost seven straight games, the longest winless skid for the franchise since Dec. 2014.
The Stars entered the game with just one power play goal in 34 attempts on home ice this season. They finished 2-5 on the man advantage.
For the seventh straight game, the Admirals opponent scored the first goal of the game. Texas forward Cameron Hughes scored on the power play when his shot from the left circle found its way past the glove of Milwaukee goalie Matt Murray at 1:56 of the first frame.
The Admirals tied the score early in the second period. With Texas on a power play to start the period, Jake Lucchini was sprung on a shorthanded breakaway. A defender caught up to him, but Milwaukee defenseman Andreas Englund stayed in the play. Lucchini flipped the puck to the slot and Englund knocked the puck through the legs of Texas goalie Tiefensee at 1:03. It was Englund’s first goal of the season and his first career American Hockey League shorthanded goal.
Milwaukee took its first lead since Dec. 3, a span of six complete games, when Lucchini scored his seventh goal of the season at 2:25 of the second period. Zach L’Heureux and Englund assisted.
But, the Stars tied the game with another power play goal at 6:21 as Kole Lind tapped a loose puck into the net. Just :39 later, Matthew Seminoff’s wrist shot from the left circle found the back of the net to allow Texas to reclaim the lead.
Texas outshot Milwaukee 35-29.
