Ads Fall Again in OT

CLEVELAND — The Milwaukee Admirals scored three times in the third period, including two goals from Nicholas Baptiste, to force overtime and a 5-5 tie, but Mark Letestu’s game-winner with 1 second remaining in OT lifted the Cleveland Monsters to a 6-5 win on Sunday at Quicken Loans Arena.

In the final moments of overtime, Letestu collected a carom on a shot off the crossbar from Tommy Cross and scored the game winning goal at the 4:59 mark to claim the second overtime win of the two-game cross-conference series for the Monsters.

After trailing 5-2 on Kevin Stenlund’s second goal of the game at 1:36 of the third, Baptiste struck twice at even strength to bring the Admirals within one. Eeli Tolvanen notched the tying goal with 2:14 remaining in regulation to complete the comeback for Milwaukee.

Zac Dalpe and Dillon Simpson (power play) netted first period goals to give the Monsters a 2-0 lead. Justin Kirkland scored for the second time in as many games at 9:16 of the first to make it 2-1, and Laurent Dauphin’s marker 37 seconds into the second period tied the game at two.

Justin Scott (shorthanded) and Stenlund gave the Monsters back a two-goal lead in the second.

The Admirals were 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Monsters went 1-for-3. The Monsters outshot Milwaukee 43-35, and 5-1 in overtime.
