Admirals trip up Iowa, 3-1

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (10-12-1-1, 22 points) were defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (14-3-2-1, 31 points) 3-1 in front of 3,597 fans on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Right wing Adam Payerl scored 28 seconds into the game to give Milwaukee_Admirals_logo-550x493the Admirals an early 1-0 lead. Milwaukee goalie Juuse Saros (10-1-0) stopped 20 of 21 shots in the victory over Iowa. Adam Gilmour scored the only goal for the Wild in the loss. Iowa goalie Alex Stalock (6-7-1) stopped 31 of 34 shots in the defeat. Iowa welcomes San Antonio for the first time this season on Friday at 7 PM.

Admirals right wing Adam Payerl opened the scoring 28 seconds into the first period. Payerl carried the puck up the right-wing side and shot the puck from the top of the right-wing circle, beating Wild goalie Alex Stalock on the glove side. Payerl’s sixth goal of the season was assisted by defenseman Jimmy Oligny and gave Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.

Wild forward Adam Gilmour tied the game 1-1 at 19:30 of the second period. Forwards Sam Anas and Jeff Hoggan assisted Gilmour’s fourth goal of the season. Hoggan passed the puck into the neutral zone to Anas, who carried the puck into the Milwaukee zone. Anas sent a cross-ice pass to a streaking Gilmour, who redirected the puck past Saros.

Left wing Harry Zolnierczyk’s second goal of the season gave Milwaukee a 2-1 lead at 10:19 of the third period. The power-play goal was set up by Vladislav Kamenev and Adam Payerl. Matt White extended Milwaukee’s lead to 3-1 at 17:58 of the period. White’s eighth goal of the year was set up by forward Cody Bass and defenseman Oligny.
