Admirals stung in shootout

NORFOLK, Va –  Hershey Goalie Simeon Varlamov took his first NHL win against the Norfolk Admirals Saturday night despite the Admirals best efforts.  Norfolk’s right winger Radek Smolenak put the Ad’s on the scoreboard first by firing the puck past Varlamov just 4:20 into the game.

Hershey’s Keith Aucion followed suit to tie up the first period for the Bears, with assists from Sean Sloan and Bryan Helmer.
The second period was played fast and furious by both teams.   Hershey’s Francois Bouchard managed the only goal of the period at the 18:23 mark.  
At 5:36 in the final frame, Norfolk’s Brendon Segal, who scored 4 goals in last week’s pre-season bout against the Philadelphia Phantoms, sent a shot between Varlamov’s legs to bring the Admirals to a 2-all tie.   Hershey’s Perreault, assisted by Wilson and Alznar.

That goal was followed in under 3 minutes with Norfolk’s Konopka firing a shot assisted by Vladamir Mahlik a few minutes later tying the game yet again at 3-3.   
After a scoreless overtime period, Hershey won the game in a 3-1 shootout with Keith Aucoin, Alexandre Giroux and Bouchard potting shots by Kerri Ramo and winning for a second night against the Admirals. 
Norfolk newcomer Wyatt Smith scored the Ad’s only shoot out goal.
