Adirondack’s Conacher named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Shane Conacher of the Adirondack Thunder is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 1-7.

Conacher scored three goals and added four assists for seven points last week, helping the Thunder extend their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1).

The 23-year-old tallied three points (2g-1a) in a 4-3 overtime win against Manchester on Wednesday, added two assists in a 4-3 shootout loss to Worcester on Friday, picked up a goal in a 2-1 victory against Brampton on Saturday and had an assist in a 4-2 win at Brampton on Sunday.

A native of Burlington, Ontario, Concacher ranks second on the Thunder with 29 points (8g-21a) in 28 games this season. He has also seen action in three games with Syracuse of the American Hockey League.

Conacher has recorded 40 points (10g-30a) in 53 career ECHL games with Adirondack and Orlando while adding three points (2g-1a) in 13 career AHL games with Syracuse and Toronto.

Prior to turning pro, Conacher notched 106 points (37g-69a) in 108 career games at Canisius College.

On behalf of Shane Conacher, a case of pucks will be donated to an Adirondack youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 37,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
