Additional Challenges will be available to coaches in the Challenge Cup semi-finals.

Last season, coaches were able to challenge plays they believed to be offside in addition to goalie interference situations. From this season, coaches also have the option to challenge for a missed game stoppage in the attacking zone (i.e. hand pass, puck played with a high stick, puck going out of bounds, etc.) and a minor penalty for ‘Delay of game’ if a player shoots the puck out of the playing surface. This means that all plays under Rule 38.2 ‘Situations Subject to a Coach’s Challenge’ are available to coaches in the Challenge Cup semi-finals.
As per the rulebook, a challenge for “Delaying the game – puck over the glass” can only be made if a penalty is called. It cannot be challenged by the opposing coach to have a penalty assessed.
Remote Situation Room
For both semi-finals in the Challenge Cup, all video reviews for plays involving goals will be reviewed remotely in the situation room, with communication into each building to the game officials. Should the communication fail, the on-ice officials will make the call on the review.
Major penalties and other penalty situations will continue to be reviewed by the on-ice officials.
