QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Already leading QMJHL President Cup series 3-2, the excitement could be felt in the K.C. Irving center before game six. Taking the lead in first period, Mario Pouliot team follow the game plan to perfection winning game sixth at home by the score of 2-1. As QMJHL President Cup champion they will go to Regina to the Memorial Cup tournament as QMJHL representative.
Dominating territorially, in shots on goal 12-3 and in face-off department Acadie-Bathurst open the scoring 6:37 into first period. After missing first two-on-one breakaway, Jeffrey Truchon-Viel used Blainville-Boisbriand defenseman Samuel L’Italien as screen beating Armada goaltender Emile Samson between his pads.
Limited to only three shots on net after dominating in the first period, Acadie-Bathurst not only successfully kept their lead but add a second goal with 3:01 left to the middle frame. Samuel L’Italien wrist shot beat Armada netminder on blocker side.
Dominated in first period, Blainville-Boisbriand came out stronger dominating 12-3 in shots but nothing to show on scoreboard. Beneficiary of the first power play in the game Armada got four shots on goal but Titans goaltender still perfect making 15 saves after two periods of play.
Alex Barre-Boulet got a great chance on breakaway but Acadie-Bathurst defenseman Olivier Galipeau came from behind and prevent the Armada forward of their first best scoring opportunity. Alexandre Alain got another excellent scoring chance but the puck hits post and the crossbar without the puck getting in.
Blainville-Boisbriand got two other chances playing four-on-four hockey for 14 seconds followed by a five-on-four power play for 1:43 without getting a real opportunity to get on board.
Trailing by two (0-2) to begin the third period, Armada head coach decided to go all in by pulling his goaltender playing with five forwards and one defenseman with three minutes left on the clock.
Perfect on first 28 Armada shots Titans goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick has been beaten on the Blainville-Boisbriand 29th shots as Drake Batherson redirected the shot from Pascal Corbeil for first and only Armada goal of the game with 2:45 left to play.
Beside Acadie-Bathurst as QMJHL representative, the Hamilton Bulldogs has surprised the Ontario Hockey League heavily favorites Sault Ste.-Mary Greyhounds and will represent the OHL at the Memorial Cup tournament.
In the Western Hockey League, as of this article written the WHL final between Swift Current Broncos and the Everett Silvertips were tied 2-2.
