ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia – The Abbotsford Canucks are set to play their inaugural season in the Fraser Valley after relocating from Utica last season. Abbotsford is back, and the excitement around the city is palpable.
It has been over seven years since the Abbotsford Heat left for Glen Falls. A move that did not shock most people in Abbotsford since the team cost the city 12 million dollars over their five seasons in the AHL. The Heat were destined to fail from the beginning, Canucks fans were never going to support the Calgary Flames prospects.
Now hockey fans in the Fraser Valley have a new team to call their own. The Abbotsford Canucks have been born, and it is great news for the AHL. The Canucks team store has already sold out of the home green Johnny Canuck jerseys – a very hot item.
