The Cleveland Monsters beat the Milwaukee Admirals (29-29-4-3) 6-5 on Saturday evening at Rocket Arena. With the win, the Monsters are now 35-25-6-1 and are currently in third place in the AHL’s North Division standings.
Cleveland’s Luca Marrelli struck first while on the man-advantage at 5:30 off feeds from Jack Williams and Brendan Gaunce to give the Monsters an early 1-0 lead. Milwaukee got themselves on the board with a goal from Cole O’Hara at 13:50 followed by another from Oasiz Wiseblatt at 15:31. The Monsters’ Riley Bezeau scored the equalizer at 16:34 with helpers from Guillaume Richard and Dysin Mayo but the Admirals’ Viggo Gustafsson would notch another to make it 3-2 Milwaukee to close the first. The Monsters’ Mikael Pyyhtiä leveled the playing field with a goal at 9:40 off feeds from Luca Pinelli and Gaunce. Pyyhtiä would tack on another at 13:10 assisted again by Pinelli to put the Monsters out in front followed by a Hudson Fasching goal at 16:06 assisted by Williams and Justin Pearson to give Cleveland a 5-3 lead through 40 minutes. Milwaukee’s Jake Lucchini opened the scoring in the third with a goal at 2:52 but Fasching responded with his second of the night at 3:18 assisted by Mayo and Williams to keep Cleveland’s two goal lead. Admirals’ Shawn Element scored the final goal of the game at 13:52 but the Monsters held onto their lead for a 6-5 victory.
Cleveland’s Zach Sawchenko stopped 19 shots for the win while Milwaukee’s Magnus Chrona made 30 saves in defeat.
