It was a fast game with enough hitting and big checks to keep the emotion high as the Flyers were riding a hot streak into Southern California.

“It’s definitely the way we have to play,” Perry said. “We have to play with a little bit of emotion. When we don’t, we’re flat. We have to play that upbeat style and in-your-face style of game.”

John Gibson made 24 saves in the win as the Ducks improved to 13-15-6.

Getzlaf opened the scoring early in the first on the power play to register only his second goal of the season.

“That’s the first time I’ve really shot a puck like that and it felt nice,” Getzlaf said. “And that’s the first time I’ve gotten one in in a long time, so it felt good.”

The emotional nature of the game had led to the Ducks having a two-man advantage ahead of Getzlaf’s goal.

“We’ve got a bunch of big boys that love to get involved in the hitting,” Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said. “When they’re involved, it’s pretty good. It’s what we play.”

Jakub Voracek and Michael Raffl gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead early in the second period before Perry scored twice to rally the Ducks.

“Perry just comes in left-hand side, I’m in the right position and he just squeaks it through the five-hole,” Flyers goalie Steve Mason said. “It should have been a pretty standard save.”

Shawn Horcoff scored shorthanded at 7:54 of the third to seal the win.
