“We battled back there and got a point out of it but we have to play better in the third period. We played them hard in the first and second and then we got away from that,” Ekman-Larsson said. “We’ve been struggling on the power play so it was nice to get a couple tonight and have it come up big. Hopefully we can feed off that going forward.”
Anze Kopitar picked up the game-winner with just 36 seconds elapsed in the extra session.
“I saw (Tikhonov) stumble just a little bit and that gave me a bit of a head start,” Kopitar said. “I saw the goalie to poke check and I wanted to make sure I got it around him. After that, I knew there would be some open net there. I just wanted to make sure I put it in.”
The Kings improved to 21-11-2 on the season.
“It was just a power move,” Kings captain Dustin Brown said of Kopitar’s goal. “I think a lot of guys have that move but Kope has the patience few players have to wait it out.”
Jonathan Quick made 23 saves for the win.
Louis Domingue made 29 save in the loss for Arizona.
