SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage (11-8-6-0) fell to the Texas Stars (14-10-2-1) 3-2 in front of 5,792 at the AT&T Center on Sunday evening. Defensemen Chris Bigras and Cody Corbett each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Rampage.
Bigras got the Rampage on the board first with a blast from the point, his third tally of the season. Brett Ritchie made it a 1-1 game at the 7:42 mark, and the teams entered the first intermission knotted at one.
Midway through the middle frame, Justin Dowling caused a turnover and carried the puck down the ice, beating Calvin Pickard with a backhand shot. The goal, a shorthanded tally, gave the Stars a 2-1 lead. Cody Corbett’s blast from the left circle on the power play tied the game at two with time winding down in the stanza. The goal was the first of the season for Corbett, who was recalled by the Rampage on Wednesday.
Julius Honka’s wrist shot at 7:26 of the third period stood as the game winner, and the Rampage fell 3-2. San Antonio was 1-for-5 on the power play while holding the Stars scoreless on two opportunities with the man advantage. Calvin Pickard made 33 saves on 36 shots.
Notes: Sunday’s contest was the 150th professional game for Joey Hishon… With a goal and an assist, Bigras recorded his second multiple-point game of the season.
