67’s come up short against Bulldogs

The Ottawa 67’s were unable to extend their winning streak to four, Friday night, dropping a 4-3 result to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Frankie Marrelli scored the first of his OHL career, with Cooper Foster and Cameron Tolnai adding others as part of a 67’s rally, but it would be as close as they got, this night.

It took all of a minute and 31 seconds for Hamilton to open the scoring, with Sahil Panwar converting on a two-on-one chance to make it 1-0.

The 67’s appeared to tie the game soon after, but a Tolnai marker was overturned after a lengthy review, on a play that was eventually ruled offside.

Nick Landis made it 2-0 just after the midway point of the frame, and Patrick Thomas converted on a powerplay with less than five minutes to play, sending the 67’s to the second down 3-0.

Ottawa made it a game in the middle period, with Marrelli’s first OHL goal, and Cooper Foster’s 15th of the campaign, but a questionable goal by Cedricson Okitundu that was ruled good on review gave the Bulldogs a 4-2 lead.

Tolnai scored late in the third, but that would be all the offence the 67’s could muster, in a 4-3 defeat.

The 67’s will attempt to get back on track, Sunday afternoon, with a visit from the Sarnia Sting.

Game Notes:

  • Jack Matier suited up in his 150th OHL game, and notched his 50th career assist.
  • Cameron Tolnai notched his 46th point of the season, setting a new career high.
  • Cooper Foster sits third in rookie scoring, with 27 points.
