LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The 2022 NHL All-Star Skills competition from T-Mobile Arena in the books. This year’s competition included two new skills events, that were held on the Las Vegas Strip and on the lake in front of the Bellagio Hotel. The winner of each event earned $30,000.
Verizon NHL Fastest Skater
Jordan Kyrou (STL) – 13.550 seconds: Kyrou toppled the three-year Champion Connor McDavid. McDavid also participated in the event but came up short with 13.690 seconds. The event required skaters to circle the ice one full lap, individually. The winner had the fastest time.
Dunkin’ NHL Save Streak
Jack Campbell (TOR) and Andrei Vasilevskiy (TBL) playing for the Atlantic Division – 9 consecutive saves: The competition required team members from an opposing team to shoot towards the net. Consecutive saves were counted.

Discover NHL Fountain Face-Off
Zach Werenski (CBJ) – 25.634 seconds: This competition was held on the Bellagio Lake last night and was played for the fans on the video board. Players needed to shoot the puck from a faceoff circle to 5 other floating circles. The event was timed. Zach placed five pucks for the win.
EA SPORTS NHL Hardest Shot
Victor Hedman (TBL) – 103.2 mph: Shot speed was clocked, as a player shot a puck from about 30 feet away from the net.

adidas NHL Breakaway Challenge
Alex Pietrangelo (VGK) – 64: Points were awarded by a panel of five celebrities that included actor Jon Hamm, Las Vegas ventriloquist Terry Fator, Hockey Hall of Famers Mark Messier and Paul Coffey, Darren Waller from the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders and NHL Youth Advisory Board member Dayton O’Donoghue. Participants were encouraged to be creative in their shots and with props.

Minnesota Wild’s Kirill Kaprizov played homage to Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin, who was placed on COVID-19 protocol Wednesday and was not able to make it to the event.
Anaheim Ducks Trevor Zegras dressed up as Peter Lafleur, from the movie “Dodgeball” and put on a blindfold before scoring with a twist.
Chicago Blackhawks Alex DeBrincat dressed up as Alan, with child in carrier on his chest, as in the movie “The Hangover), brought along Raiders Quarterback Derek Carr, who passed him a football that he dropped in the net.
New Jersey Devils Jack Hughes did a magic trick that conjured up a mini Jack Hughes to score the goal.
In the end, Pieterangelo’s shot through the local Drumbots was the winner, when Jon Hamm scored his shot with a 19 (score 1 -10).

Hamm, a St. Louis native, explained that Pietrangelo earned the 19 by helping his St. Louis Blues win the Stanley Cup in 2019.
Las Vegas NHL 21 in ’22
Joe Pavelski (DAL): This event was held on Las Vegas Boulevard, with a full deck of oversized cards on a rack, with the first player hitting 21 getting the win. This event actually was taped the evening preceding the game and played on the jumbotron during today’s event.
Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting
Sebastian Aho (CAR) – 10.937 seconds: Aho redirected four pucks at four corners of the net in the least amount of time for the accuracy win.
The 2022 All-Star Game will be Saturday afternoon from T-Mobile Arena. The Pacific Division will face the Metropolitan division in the first game, while the Atlantic Division will face the Central Division. The winner of the two games will face each other for the winner.
