Wranglers win game one in double OT

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Las Vegas Wranglers hosted the Idaho Steelheads in game one of the Western Conference first round playoffs at Orleans Arena Tuesday night. The resulting game was a scoreless duel until 17:44 in the second overtime, in which the Wrangler’s Ryan Huddy scored an unassisted goal.
 
Both teams battled during regulation, while Idaho’s Jerry Kuhn had 32 saves and Wrangler’s Michael Ouzas turned away 17 shots. By the end of the game, shots on goal were 49 – 29, in favor of Las Vegas.
 
Idaho was zero for two chances on the power play throughout the game, as the Wranglers failed to score in five opportunities.
 
Unlike many regular season games, penalties were few, resulting in only 14 minutes of total penalties assessed for the entire game.
 
Las Vegas leads the best-of-five series 1-0. Game two is Wednesday at the Orleans.
