HARTFORD, Conn – Things were going so well just a few days ago for the Woldpack. Matt Zaba was making saves and the Sharks were looking overmatched.
Oh how times have changed in this series.
Once leading 2-0 in the series the Wolfpack now find themselves trailing 3-2 and one game away from elimination in the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Game five in the first round series picked up right where it left off in Worcester the night before. In game four, the Sharks loaded up with five goals in the third. They added three goals in the first period tonight and never really looked back.
Only Dane Byers’ power play goal mid way through the third spoiled the party for the Sharks.
Worcester’s Patrick Traverse notched two goals in the first and sent the Sharks to the dressing confident and buoyed.
His first came on the power play at 5:55 and his second at 13:50 (also a power play) sandwiched a marker from TJ Fox, his second of the series.
Zaba made 23 saves on the in the loss while Thomas Greiss 27 of 28 shots.
Only 1,857 attended the game.
Hartford coach Ken Gernander will need to figure out what happened to his team and what bus crashed the party that was in full swing just two games back.
