WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Three goals in the third period for Utah forced a game five in this series with the Las Vegas Wranglers. Brian Kilburg tied the game early in the third with his first of the playoffs and Tim Crowder picked up the game winner mid-way through the final stanza. Ryan Kinasewich added an empty net goal to secure the win for the Grizzlies and force the series to a final game.
Jimmy Spratt was again solid in net but the Wranglers’ offense deserted him after the first period. Without steady pressure in the offensive zone, the Grizzlies were free to roam the Vegas zone and take quality shots on Spratt.
Chris Neiszner and Ryan Weston sandwiched Wrangler goals around a Utah marker by Lance Galbraith in the first period. Vegas was able to nurse the lead through the second frame but the Grizzlies were motivated to extend their season by at least one more game with the solid effort in the final twenty minutes.
Mike Morrison returned to the net this afternoon after replacing Mikko Koskinen to start the second period in game three.
Game five is Tuesday night in Utah.
