USHL West Division weekly wrapup

/* PAPILLION, NEBRASKA – After another week of league play in the USHL, teams are starting to set their tempos and reputations.  Currently Omaha sits atop the West Division standings as they continue to pad their lead each week, While Sioux Falls overtook Tri-City for the number two spot in the division. The Storm did spend the weekend on the road while the Stampede enjoyed the comfort of home.  West Division Standings Omaha, 16 pts (8-1-0) Sioux Falls, 14 pts (6-1-2) Tri-City, 13 pts (6-1-1) Fargo, 8 pts (4-5-0) Des Moines 8 pts (4-5-0) Lincoln, 8 pts (4-7-0) Sioux City, 6 pts (3-6-0) October 29, 2009 Omaha 3, Team USA 2 Ann Arbor, Michigan – Dakota Eveland scored the game winner at 16:06 to give Omaha the win over Team USA.  With the loss, Team USA has yet to win once in their first ten games since reentering the USHL. October 30, 2009 Omaha 4, Team USA 3 (OT) Ann Arbor, Michigan – It took a two to one advantage in shoot out for Omaha to defeat Team USA for their 11th straight loss.  With the overtime loss Team USA has two overtime losses this season giving them a total of two points in the standings. Green Bay 3, Sioux City 0 Sioux City, Iowa – Steve Summerhays stopped 11 shots from the Musketeers to collect the shutout victory for the visiting Gamblers.  Tommy Olzcyk and Dan Ford were the only Musketeers to record more than one shot as they each logged two shots on net. Sioux Falls 4, Lincoln 0 Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Lino Chimienti led the Stampede making 23 saves for the shutout victory.  The Stampede recorded four goals from four separate players for a text book team win. Youngstown 3, Fargo 1 Fargo, North Dakota – Special teams play dominated the bulk of this netminder duel that would see the inaugural Phantoms defeat last season’s West Division Champs from Fargo.  Both teams would score once on the power play and Youngstown would seal the game with an empty net goal from Scott Mayfield. October 31, 2009 Des Moines 5, Green Bay 2 Des Moines, Iowa – Charles Williams would lead Des Moines to the victory stopping 25 of 27 shots.  The Buccaneers have now won four games this season. Tri-City 5, Lincoln 1 Lincoln, Nebraska – The resurgent Storm defeated Lincoln in easy fashion last night to win their sixth game of the season.  Jaden Schwartz and Josh Berge would each record three points in the victory for Tri-City. Youngstown 6, Fargo 3 Fargo, North Dakota – Youngstown made the most of their 13 shots on goal, recording six for goals.  Corey Leivermann and Nate Schmidt would each record two points for the visiting Phantoms. Sioux Falls 7, Sioux City3 Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Matt Schmidt would score two goals in the losing effort for the Musketeers.  Sioux Falls would skate to the victory behind Matt Bailey who would score two goals and an assist for the Stampede.   This week will feature a couple rivalry games as Sioux City hosts Omaha and Tri-City will host Lincoln.
