Upset city in first round of the ECAC playoffs.

READING, PA – Brown, Quinnipiac, Union, and Rensselaer all won their respective first round playoff series and advanced to the ECAC quarterfinals beginning Friday night. Qunnipiac was the only higher seeded team to advance to the next round.

The twelfth seeded Brown won the three games series in two games by shutting out fifth seeded Harvard 1-0 and 2-0. Mike Clemente shot out the Crimson by making a combined 86 saves to earn the sweep. Clemente won the INCH player-of-the-week honor for his efforts.
 
It was the first time in league history a 12th seed defeated a 5th seed in league history, and the first time ever that Harvard was shutout in back-to-back games in the teams 111 year history.   Brown will not take on top seeded Yale in the quaterfinals.
 
Seventh seeded Quinnipiac won their series in three games, with every game going into overtime, over tenth seeded Colgate. Brandon Wong scored at the 13:13 mark of overtime to clinch the series for the Bobcats. Wong also had the game winner in game one as well. Quinnipiac will not take on fourth seeded St. Lawrence.
 
Eighth seeded Union swept Clarkson 5-3, and 7-2 to advance to ECAC quarterfinals against third seeded Princeton. It was the first time in 10 tries that Union won a playoff series.
 
Eleventh seeded Rensselaer swept sixth seeded Dartmouth to advance against Cornell on Friday. Jeff Foss scored 7:49 into overtime to win game one 3-2, while Freshman goaltender Allen York stopped 27 of 28 shots to win game two 3-1.
 
Brown and Rensselaer were the two lowest seeds heading into the ECAC playoffs.
