Two FireAntz players arrested

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Two members of the Fayetteville FireAntz were arrested early Sunday morning and charged with felony possession of cocaine hours after playing in an SPHL game.
According to media reports, Jason Hill and Anthony Perdicaro were arrested along with a third man at the Huske Hardware House Restaurant and Brewery at about 2 a.m. by an off-duty police officer who was working security at the restaurant.
The Fayetteville Observer reported that Hill and Perdicaro were in the men’s room with the third man, who was identified by Fayetteville Police as Jose Rodriguez, a soldier from Fort Bragg, when a security person attempted to enter. After having to force his way in through two of the three men blocking the door, the guard told police he saw cocaine on the sink ready to be snorted.
Bail for all three men was set at $1,000.
The players, along with several of their teammates were at Huske following the FireAntz game against the Columbus Cottonmouths.
Team President Kevin MacNaught told the Observer that no decisions on the status of the players would be made until all facts were in. However, on Monday, the team announced that Hill had been traded to the Louisiana IceGators for future considerations but that deal was rescinded on Tuesday before the FireAntz waived Hill. Perdicaro was listed as being in the lineup Tuesday night when Fayetteville traveled to Knoxville to take on the Ice Bears, a game that the FireAntz lost 2-1.
“The FireAntz organization takes situations such as these very seriously,” MacNaught said. “We have not received all the facts. Pending review, disciplinary actions will be determined.”
