KALAMAZOO, Mich – The Toledo Walleye helped their postseason plans and in the process put a damper on the Kalamazoo Wings playoff hopes with a 4-1 victory Friday night at Wings Stadium.
Finding a loose puck midway in the period, Tyler Brenner (10th) scored on rebound to extend Toledo’s lead to two goals.
Keeping the pressure in the second period, Willie Coetzee (26th) increased Toledo’s lead to three goals by stealing a breakout pass near the left circle and worked his way in the slot for a wrister 14:31 into the period.
Putting the game away in third period, Coetzee (27th) notched his second of the game from an assist from Martin and Trevor Parkes. The assist from Parkes extends his point streak to five games.
Kalamazoo broke up Toledo’s shutout bid 14:18 into the period with a goal from Mitch Versteeg (7th).
The loss extends the K-Wings winless streak (0-3-0-1) to four games.
