BROOMFIELD, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Rage have re-signed “The Captain” Brent Cullaton to a second season with the Rage as a player/assistant coach. Cullaton registered a career high 92 points last season to lead the Rage in points, and also gave him the fourth highest point total in the CHL. The 6’ 230lb right wing had a total of 71 assists last season and has tallied 728 points during his 12 year pro career. The leadership, experience, and play making ability make Cullaton not only a fan favorite, but one of the most exciting and valuable players in the CHL. The three time CHL All Star was named the Northern Conference All Star MVP at the conclusion of last year’s All Star Game, and Cullaton was also named a finalist for League MVP last season. Rage fans had been holding their breath waiting to see if the Rage would re-sign Cullaton, and now those fans can breathe again because the Captain is back. As the Rage prepare for training camp, which will open on Monday the 6th of October, they have signed three additional players and also signed five players to tryout contracts, bringing their training camp roster to 26 players. The new signings include Ryan Bartle, a second year pro forward that spent his rookie campaign with the Twin City Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League, Mike Bulawka a forward that has spent the past three seasons playing at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Southern Alberta won back to back Canadian College National Championships in 2007 & 2008. A third forward signed by the Rage is Jerry Clarke. Clarke is entering his rookie season, and spent the past three years playing for York University in Toronto. The Rage also has five players signed to try out contracts. These signings include three goaltenders, Cameron Clemensen, Bryan Lobato, and Jeff Neitenbach, center Jason White, and defenseman Chris Clark. With CHL All Star, and Rage starting goaltender Scott Reid attending training camp for the Quad City Flames of the AHL, the Rage are forced to address the possibility that Reid may be signed by Quad City and not returning to their roster. It is looking like a lively and competitive training camp for the Rage, as they try to make the adjustments they need to go into the playoffs this season for the first time in their short history, after missing the playoff by a single point last season.
