The event will be centered around the Texas Stars’ home game against the Peoria Rivermen. The Texas Stars will don pink themed jerseys to promote breast cancer awareness. Last season, the Texas Stars presented its first Pink in the Rink during the October 30th game against the Houston Aeros. The event raised over $25,000 for the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Texas Stars Foundation. The Stars wore pink themed jerseys that were auctioned off during the game. In conjunction with the jerseys, the players used pink taped sticks during warm-ups that were also auctioned off. The Texas Stars Foundation, with help from the Texas Stars players’ wives and girlfriends, helped sell autographed “Pink in the Rink” pucks. The Stars donated $2 of each individual or group ticket sold. In all, $10,616.50 of the net funds were donated to the Komen Austin Affiliate. The Texas Stars Ice Girls also participated in the Komen Austin Race for the Cure® last year, generating $942.85 in additional donations.
